Phyllis Krukow (Young, Darr, Riegger) of Akron died January 3, 2019 at Akron General Hospital. Born July 9, 1932 in Oak Harbor, Ohio, to Linden and Maggie Young, she graduated from Oak Harbor High School. At the time of her death, she was married to Carl Krukow. She was previously married to Frank J. Darr, who died in 1984, and Hugh Riegger, who died in 2000. Mrs. Krukow was an active member of the Akron Women's City Club and the Fairlawn Garden Club, and she organized and devoted countless well-spent hours to card clubs and a Red Hat group. Among many activities, she was employed as a secretary for the Akron Art Museum and Old Trail School. She was a founding member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Copley, spent many summers tending the church's flower gardens, and was an active member and a leader of the women's altar society. An active parent and grandparent, she attended plays, band concerts, sporting events, graduations, and other school events. In addition to her husband, Carl, she is survived by her three children and their spouses, Frank Darr and Rosemary Riley, John and Belinda Darr, and Jeanne and Robert Cundiff; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nealy, Carly Cundiff, Daniel Cundiff, and Samantha Darr; one great grandchild, Cole Nealy, sister-in law Dorothy Hoelzle, brother in law Robert Darr and his wife, Sue, brother in law David Riegger, and step children David and Sue Riegger and their children, Scott and Sue Riegger and their children Henry and Michael, and Bobby Krukow and his wife Millisa and their children. Visiting hours will be held at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley, from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, January 11, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 South Cleveland Massillon Road, Copley, at 10 am on Saturday, January 12, 2019. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
