Phyllis Griffith

Phyllis Stephenson Griffith 58 passed away at home Thursday July 18th surrounded by her family. Born in Akron she graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and The University of Akron. Phyllis served as Director of Alumni Relations at U of A and as Director of Development at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School The Magical Theatre Company and The Medina County Performing Arts Foundation. Most recently she worked with Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis as a fundraising consultant. She was an active alumnus of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority Sigma Chapter. Phyllis will be remembered for her philanthropic nature kindness courage wit compassion and deep love of family. Preceded in death by her parents John and Dolores Stephenson her first husband Mark Griffith her sister Anne Marie Stephenson her niece Marie Daily and sister-in-law Christine Stephenson she is survived by her husband of 33 years Michael and their children Kathleen (Darren) Buzzard and Michael Jr. Also left to mourn her passing are her brother and sisters John (Vicki) Stephenson Mary (Jeffrey) Kase Martha (Jon) Kelly and Alice (John) D'Attoma; her mother-in-law Dorothy Griffith sister-in-law Joyce (Gary) Shorter brothers-in-law Richard (Christie) and Robert Griffith and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange Street on Monday July 22 2013 from 5-8 pm. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday July 23 at 9:30 am at St. Vincent Catholic Church 140 W. Market Street. Cremation has taken place.
