View Memorial Photo TributePhilip George Dalessandro 68 died peacefully on June 26 2008 after a long illness. He will always be remembered for his courage and determination to overcome complications of a brain tumor. He was born and raised in Detroit MI graduated from All Saints High School and went on to serve 6 years in the Army Reserves. He married Darlene in 1965 and in 1973 his family was transferred to Akron where he ran sales regionally for Chicago Fire Brick Company. Phil was promoted to Vice President of Marketing and Sales in 1993 relocating his family to Naperville IL for 7 years. After managing the sale of Chicago Fire Brick Philip retired after 35 years of loyalty to his company. Moving back home to Akron Phil continued to consult within the industry for a number of years. An avid golfer Phil was a long-time member of Silver Lake Country Club where he enjoyed many friendships. He was also a member of the Italian American Club and the Elks Club of Cuyahoga Falls. Phil and Darlene enjoyed the lasting friendships made through St. Sebastian and the West Akron neighborhood where they lived for over 20 years. Most recently Phil enjoyed being Papa to his beloved granddaughters. Preceded in death by parents Filomena and Pasquale he is survived by Darlene his loving wife of 43 years. Phil will be dearly missed by son Patrick (Amy) and granddaughter Mia Darlene of Akron and daughter Lisa (Keith) Walker and granddaughter Lily of Akron. He is also survived by sister Theresa (Frank) Fodale of Commerce Township MI brother John of Taylor MI and sister-in-law Marianne (Kurt) Carpenter of Clovis CA as well as many nieces nephews and cousins. Phil will also be missed by his many friends especially his 'cousin' Ray Balint who remained constant in his support. His family wishes to extend their gratitude to Phil's friends extended family and care givers for their love support and prayers over the last few years. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 AM on Tuesday July 1 2008 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 1905 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Monday June 30 at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange Street Akron from 5-8 PM. Phil will remain in our hearts forever and his loyalty and dedication to his family and friends will live on.
