Peter Ponos

Peter Ponos age 69 died at Hospice & Palliative Care Akron on Sunday October 23 2011 following a nine- week courageous battle with the rare carcinoid tumor syndrome. He was born on 12-30-1941 in Akron Ohio to the late Chryssoula (Polyzoi) Ponos and Tom Ponos. He is survived by son Jeffrey Thomas (Lisa) Ponos and children Niko and Nathan; daughter Marlo Francine Ponos (David) Rutz and children Addison Morgan Maguire Makaila and Kailani; sister Kathleen (Larry) Nuosce; niece Catherine Nuosce (Nick) Kramperth; nephew Dominic (Michelle) Nuosce and children Emma and Kate; family Cynthia Limbach Ponos Rose-Marie Kouri-Ponos and Jenny Ponos; many other relatives; and special friends Gary Walleen Mike and Sara Falatok (Drew Landon and Mikey) and Debbie Presser-Nemeth. Pete was drafted in the United States Army believing it was his honor to serve. After working for Goodyear in Akron and Ford Motor in Woodhaven Michigan he managed Taki's Greek Tavern (1982-1984) and the Short Stop Inn both in Akron. Pete was then hired by the University of Akron as a cook and retired in 1998. He was a member of: the American Legion Post # 0449 Akron. ''Your light and love is missed by all those who loved you.'' Pete's final request: have a shot of ''ouzo break a glass and dance to ''Never on Sunday.'' At his request cremation has occurred and burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga RD Rittman OH 44270 on Wednesday October 26 at 2 PM.
