Patricia Greenzalis

March 9, 1936 — March 15, 2025

Patricia Benadum Greenzalis passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, at the age of 89. Patty was born on March 9, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio and attended St. Augustine's Grade School where she was the May Queen and Holy Rosary High School. After high school, Patty trained as an X-Ray Technician and worked at St. Francis Hospital and Mount Carmel Hospital. She also worked at The Ohio State University Dental College as the Coordinator of Dental Research for Proctor and Gamble's launch of Crest Toothpaste.

Being the eldest of five children, Patty was often seen with younger siblings in her care. Patty was naturally artistic, and her passions were sketching, oil painting, decorating her home, sewing Halloween costumes, and having a neighborhood Christmas Boutique with her friends. Patty and her husband Bill moved from Columbus to Akron in 1972, settling in Fairlawn Heights. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends during the holidays as well as Bill's business associates. She volunteered in TWIGS, St. Thomas Hospital and Witan where she was Chair of the French Market. Patty was a member of Diggers and Weeders for 20 years. She was also a member of Fairlawn Country Club for more than 50 years, never missing their weekly Wednesday night dinner and Friday lunches with her best friends.

Patty is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Greenzalis, her parents Francis and Bernice Benadum and her sister Barbara Benadum Burnett. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Wallace (Tim) and Elizabeth Khayyat (Fuad); her four grandchildren, Nate and Michael Wallace and Mia Rose and Gus Khayyat, her brothers Tom Benadum (Patty) and Jim Benadum (Jan), her sister Cherie Benadum Heckler (Tom), many nieces and nephews, and her special friend Nancy Hamlin.

The family will hold a private memorial service. For those wishing, memorial contributions can be made to Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron.
