Patricia Claypool

Patricia T. Claypool, age 88, passed away on June 18, 2018. She was born on Friday, November 13, 1929 and was a life resident of Akron. Pat was an outstanding community volunteer and organizer including Ladies Chairman for the American Golf Classic and President of Akron Junior League. She served on a variety of boards including, Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens and Edward J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. She championed local causes such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Ahead Drug House, including fundraising for the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center. She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms High School and Marymount College of Tarrytown, New York. Pat was a generous and caring women to all her family and friends and those she didn't even know. She was an avid bridge player and a veracious reader. Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Claypool D.D.S., parents, David and Lorena Towell and brother, David J. Towell; she is survived by her daughter, Pam Cook and her husband, Chad and their children, Sean, Marybeth and Garrett and great-grandchildren, Cayson, Anabelle, Zoey, Deaglan; her son, Jim Claypool and his wife Mary Ellen and their children, Charlotte, Karen and Jim; and lovingly supported by her sister-in-law, Ann Towell. The family would like to thank and acknowledge Pat Gillespie 'Coach' for her unconditional support and care of our mother. Special thanks to her Hospice Services of Summa 'Angels'. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Thursday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. Copley, Ohio 44321, where family will greet friends one hour prior. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Elms or Hospice of Summa.
