Olena Batina, age 54, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, surrounded by friends and family. She was battling cancer for 15 years. She fought a good fight and God took her Home.
Lena was born on February 22, 1969 in Grodno, Belarus. After graduating from school, she moved to Kharkiv, Ukraine to study at the institute. Graduated from the Kharkiv Aircraft Building Institute with a degree in engineering of Liquid Fuel Rocket Engines. Not having worked a day in the profession.
She accepted Christ in the summer of 1995 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Since then she attended Father's House Church for more than 20 years. In 2022 she joined Bethel Cleveland, USA.
God called her to Rescue those being led away to death (Proverb 24:11 - was her life motto). And in 2001, she opened the first Crisis Pregnancy Assistance Center in the post-Soviet countries and Ukraine. For almost 20 years she was its executive director, ideological engine, and main fundraiser. Her leadership spread the movement across the country and even outside of it. She has built strong relationships with pro-life organizations such as Life International, and Heartbeat International and made friends all over the world.
Thanks to her work, hundreds of children were born. Many women have received relief from post-abortion syndrome. She has been a mentor to many women and teenagers.
She chose to love and be friends with difficult people, from whom everyone turned away. She chose to be there, lend a helping hand, give advice, and pray for them. She introduced many to the living God, to get out of ritual, and religious Christianity into a living relationship. She was a teacher, an intercessor and worshiper, an admirer of Jesus. Her love of life was contagious.
She enjoyed gardening and observing God's beautiful world and creations. She was very creative and made jewellery with her own hands, and also created a collection of "Lord of the Rings" dolls by felting wool.
Her faith was strong and true to the very end. Life taught her to be strong, but she always retained tenderness, femininity, and love for people. She was a faithful wife, a mother of two daughters - Evgenia and Anastasia, and a grandmother to Joyce. Her gentle presence will be missed so dearly.
