Norman Edmunds

December 10, 1924 — January 19, 2010

Norman E. Edmunds 85 of Akron died suddenly yet peacefully at his home on January 19 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Josephine Edmunds; his sisters Leona Margaret Tincy Dolores Beatrice and Norma; and his brother John. Norman is survived by his wife of 54 years Carol; his children Linda (Tom) Berger Alan (Mary) Edmunds Mark (Paula) Edmunds Susan (Steve) Kasarnich and Michelle (David) Fox; 7 grandchildren Tori Katy Jessica Brooke Keith Lauren and Aiden; and many other nieces nephews and cousins. Norman proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps and as a decorated war veteran was the recipient of: 4 Bronze Battle Stars Good Conduct Medal Air Medal (5 Oak Leaf Clusters) and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Medal. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace as a plant engineer after 40 yrs. of service where he met his wife Carol. Norman was a proud fisherman and belonged to the Goodyear Engineers Club for many years. He will be missed for his wonderful sense of humor his gardening his singing his wisdom which everyone appreciated and his great love for his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday January 22 2010 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 4019 Manchester Rd Akron. Interment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St Akron on Thursday evening from 4-7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis de Sales St. Vincent de Paul Society 4019 Manchester Rd Akron OH 44319.
