Nicholas Jones

Nicholas Jones 25 of Akron passed away October 27 2010 surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a 2003 graduate of East High School and was employed at Akron Children's Hospital as an office assistant in Rehab Services. Nick was a young man with many interests and was known for his off-the-wall sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him. Nicholas was preceded in death by his grandparents Houston and Mary Agnes Jones and James and Mary Kay Schafer. He is survived by his son Joseph; parents Kenneth and Susan Jones nee Schafer; sisters Kerrie (Derek) Larch and Christine Jones (Shawn Sojka); brother Anthony Jones (fiancé Shirley Harper); nephews Joshua and Zachary; nieces Jaquelyn and Jenna; mother of his child Tara Parnell; and numerous family and friends. The family thanks Nick's co-workers at Akron Children's Hospital (especially Chris Abraham) for all of their love and support the past seven years and the staff of Summa Health Systems 7 East for the love and care the past 16 months. Nick said he never knew true love until his son Joseph came into his life. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday October 31 2010 at 4:30 pm. at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange ST Akron with Fr. Paul Rosing officiating. Friends may call prior to the service from 1 - 4:30. Cremation to follow.
