VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Nicholas Hauprich 89 of Akron died December 25 2005 at Pebble Creek Care Center. Nick was born on April 26 1916 in Chicago Illinois. He graduated from the Aeronautical University in Chicago Illinois in 1939 where he was president of Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and President of his graduating class. Nick retired from Goodyear Aerospace in 1971 and had a lifelong career avocation and consuming passion for aviation and its history. Nick was considered 'one of the finest scale model builders of our time.' One of his models is in the Smithsonian Museum and 75 are displayed in the Allison Museum Indianapolis Indiana. He was a longtime dedicated member and contributor of MAPS Air Museum. His other interests included model building photography fishing hunting guns and model trains. Nicholas was preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Elizabeth Hauprich and brother William. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Elaine 'Peg' Hauprich; daughters Lynn (Bill) Carling Christie (Pat) Carracher and Penny Etoll; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grand children. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December 28 2005 at 12 NOON at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange Street with Chaplin Norm Brunelle officiating. Private interment in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
