Nellie Baranek

Nellie Mary Baranek, 97, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away May 7, 2014 with her family at her side. Nellie was born in Flushing, Ohio to Jacob and Marcianna Kowal. She was married to Mike Baranek who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and two sisters. Nellie is survived by her children and spouses; Barbara (William) Lane, Michael (Peggy) Baranek, Robert (Darlene) Baranek, and John (Anne) Baranek, grandchildren Deborah (Eric) Retherford, Tammy (Brent) Mahoney, Amy (Mike) Hurst, M.G. II, Andy, Erin, Chris (Alison), Ben, Laura, Anna, John II, Jacob; and twelve great-grandchildren. Her greatest love was her Polish heritage and her family. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange Street, Akron, Ohio. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Nellie will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where she was a member since 1948. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family wishes to thank The Gardens of Western Reserve and Harbor Light Hospice, Inc. for their compassion and care.
