Nancy Whitinger

The evening of July 24, 2014, our Lord welcomed her into His arms after a brief struggle. Born in Arkansas on February 18, 1939, she moved to California and later served her country in the USAF. Nancy was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving on various committees. Nancy enjoyed playing Tripoly monthly with her long time friends and traveling frequently to spend time with family. She was a devoted wife to John, who preceded her in death; loving mother to LaQuita (Ed) Opperman and Lori (Robert) Johnston; proud grandma to Adam and Jeremy Opperman and Riley Nash; sister to Grover (Marilyn) and Danny (Sharon) Beam, Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be missed greatly. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church, 139 S. High St., Akron. Nancy's family and friends will receive visitors for one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nancy's memory to Zion Lutheran Church.
