Michael J. Reiter

Michael J. Reiter, age 87, passed away suddenly on February 28, 2023. He was born in Akron, Ohio in 1935 to Frances Staub and Michael Reiter.

Along with his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Maria (Mincica); sister Catherine; and brother John.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Kimberly) Reiter, Maria (Robert) Sargent, Anna (Cindy) Reiter, and John (Kimberly) Reiter; 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Michael was a graduate of St. Vincent and University of Akron. He served overseas for the Army as a Specialist Three. Michael was a long-time retired Employee of B.F. Goodrich and Lockheed Martin. He was a member of Annunciation Visitation of Mary parish, having attended grade school and contributing through fish fries, bingo, parish council, haunted houses, offering counter, finance committee, boy scouts, and any and all other activities. Michael was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was known for enjoying mystery weekends, science fiction, pro wrestling, and love for his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Visitation of Mary Parish (Annunciation), 87 Broad Street, Akron. Visitation will be Friday, March 3, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange Street, Akron. Burial will follow mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Road, Akron.
