Melanie Pescan

View Memorial Photo TributeMelanie Ruth Pescan born November 14 1953 died at home September 28 2008. She lived heroically with cancer for more than seven years. She graduated from Manchester High School (where she was voted Class Clown of '71) earned a BA in Special Education from Hiram College and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University. She worked many years for the Summit County Board of Mental Retardation. She was a valued member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron. She could make art out of anything and made of her last days an art of loving friendship. She was a strong woman with a gentle footprint. Melanie is survived by her son Benjamin Merritt Walkuski; mother Mary Y. Pescan for whom she was caregiver for many years; sister Barbara Pescan and her partner Ann Tyndall of Chicago; many aunts uncles and cousins; and a host of loving friends. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 4 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Unitarian Universalist Church 3300 Morewood Rd. Akron OH.
