Maurice A. Hohman

July 28, 1927 — December 28, 2024

Maurice A. (Maury) Hohman went home to the Lord Jesus on December 28, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born on July 28, 1927, the son of Albert and Loretta (Yeager) Hohman. He was married in 1954 to Nancy M. (Lazzaro) Hohman, who preceded him in death in 2018. They began their married life in Akron, raised their family in Copley starting in 1968, and retired to Green. He most recently resided at the Village of St. Edward, Senior Living (Fairlawn). He loved golf, playing well into his 90's. He watched golf with just as much enthusiasm, even after he could no longer play the game; however, his greatest joy was always his family.

Maurice proudly served his country for 13 years. He was a Navy Veteran Seaman 1st class, receiving an honorable discharge following the death of his mother, and served in the Navy and Air Force Reserves after World War II. Maurice completed his Engineering degree from John Carroll and The University of Akron. He worked for Goodyear until his retirement in 1989. He had the uncanny ability to see an airplane in flight and be able to tell you what type of aircraft it was.

Maurice was preceded in death by Nancy, his loving wife of 64 years, his parents, Albert and Loretta Hohman and step-mother Mabel Hohman, his only sibling Sister Marie Hohman, O.P. , many sisters in laws, brother in laws and friends. He is lovingly survived by his 3 children, Diane (Randy) Bowers, Janice (Mark) Jatich and Donald (Julie) Hohman. He also leaves 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is already missed by his loving family and many friends that he made over the years. He will be remembered as always smiling and had such a kind, friendly demeanor - he never met a stranger.

Viewing will be at Queen of Heaven Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown, Ohio (City of Green) on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
