Mary Ann Benninger passed away on May 29, 2022. Beloved sister and aunt, she is survived by her siblings Joan (Ed) Markowski, Louise (Vince) Scalera, John (Cathy) Benninger, and Diane (Steve) Richards. Mary Ann also leaves behind her ten beloved nieces and nephews as well and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Martin Benninger, and brother and sister in law Paul and Marie Benninger, and nephews Michael Markowski and David Benninger.
Mary Ann graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1960. She enjoyed attending the reunions with her high school friends for many years.
Although a near lifetime resident of Akron, Mary Ann lived in Los Angeles for several years when she was younger. One of her favorite stores was when she had the chance to take an x-ray of Elvis Presley. A story which has become legend in the family.
Mary Ann worked at Summa Hospitals from 1991 until she retired as a mammogram technician in 2015. She loved her work at Summa and is remembered by many for her ability to make one feel comfortable during an exam. She loved to sing the praises of her many nieces and nephews and was so proud to chat away during a mammogram and talk of their accomplishments.
Mary Ann loved to travel with her sisters to visit their brother in Las Vegas and also to Hilton Head and Cancun. She was also well known for her love of knitting and needlepoint, as it was one of her favorite hobbies. Her family affectionately nicknamed her AMA and she will be missed.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church located at 3179 Kent Rd., Stow, Ohio 44224 followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
