Mary (Zimmer) Walter
Mary passed peacefully surrounded by three generations of family, leaving this world as peacefully as she lived.
Born to Frank and Margaret Mary (Curran) Zimmer on March 3rd, 1951, Mary attended Sacred Heart School in Wadsworth, and graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1969. She received her bachelor’s degree in Education in 1973 from The University of Akron. It was there that she met her husband and soulmate for the last 50 years, Ric Walter. They worked side by side for 30 years at their business, Walter Graphics, carving wood commercial signs.
Mary and Ric shared a love for traveling. They often hosted trips in their Winnebago filled with family and friends traveling the country. As members of the Edgewater Yacht Club in Cleveland for 34 years, their sailboats were rarely at the dock as most days it was filled with family and friends and sailing Lake Erie. “Aunt Mary’s Camp” became a cherished tradition for cousin bonding.
Her nickname was “Saint Mary”. She was a constant source of love, joy, and compassion. She embraced life with an extraordinary spirit that touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Surviving Mary are siblings: Martin and Ann Zimmer, Bernadette and Steve Hardy, Steve and Peg Zimmer, Ann and Justin Herideen, and Monica and Russell Williams.
