Mary Meredith

Mary Bartell Meredith, age 83, died September 2, 2017. Born in Akron, Mary Catherine Doyle was the daughter of Michael Doyle and Catherine Malboeuf Doyle. Mary was a graduate of The University of Akron with a B.S. in Education. Her forty year teaching career included assignments at Immaculate Conception, St. Paul, St. Sebastian and St. Mary Elementary Schools. The hundreds and hundreds of students she helped educate knew Mrs. Bartell and Mrs. Meredith as a dedicated and no-nonsense teacher. She also served as the Director of Volunteers at St. Thomas Hospital for five years. Preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon R. Bartell, and her second husband, Judson L. Meredith, Mary is survived by her son, Gordon M. Bartell and daughter, Dawn M. Bartell; grandchildren, Jennifer Kirn, Matthew Kirn (Siobhan) and Angela Kirn; great-grandchildren, Devin Kirn and Layla Foster. Mrs. Meredith directed that her body be cremated. A memorial mass will be held 11:00am Friday at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 476 Mull Ave. Akron, Ohio 44320 Donations in Mary's name may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
