Mary Friess

Mary E. Friess born on February 25 1919 to Thomas J. and Kathryn Masterson Boylan in Akron. Bette graduated from St. Vincent and attended The University of Akron where she became affiliated with Theta Phi Alpha. She served as President of the Catholic Service Leagues' Women's Board and President of the NCCW South Region and was a member of the Past Presidents Club of NCCW of the Diocese. Also a member of St. Thomas Women's Board and St. Vincent Alter Society. Mary was preceded in death by her husband George in January of this year sisters A. Lucile Boylan and Dorthy Brooker and sons George Thomas and Gregory J. Friess. She is survived by daughters M. Diane Augsbury of Akron Stephanie M. Weaks of Cincinnati Denise A. Hickerson of Nashville; sons Frederic J. of Akron Gary E. (Mary H.) Mark A. (Michelle) James C. (Molly) all of Akron and daughter-in-law Beth Friess of Richmond VA Mary K. Friess of Reston VA.; 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial Monday October 18 2004 9:30 A.M. at St. Vincent Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Sunday from 2-5. In lieu of floral tributes the family would appreciate memorials to Summa Eye Research Center the Jack Costigan scholarship fund St. Vincent Elementary School or a charity of your choice.
