Mary L. Brekke Mary Brekke, 94, of Akron, died Tuesday February 11, 2014 after a period of declining health. She was born in Montello, Wisconsin on June 27, 1919. She married the late Palmer Brekke on December 7, 1945, and resided in Akron for the past 60 years. Mary was the office manager of Belinky Inc. for 20 years. Upon her retirement Mary was actively involved in Tuesday Musical, Akron Women's City Club, St. Thomas Women's Board and Coach House Theater. She truly enjoyed the people she met through these organizations as well as all the opportunities they afforded her to play bridge. Mary is survived by her beloved children, Karen (Rodger) Whaley of Worthington, OH, Paul Brekke of Barberton, OH, Molly (Leigh) Litchfield of Westford, MA and Karla (Jeff) Bell of Ellicott City, MD. Mary will be remembered with love by her grandchildren Rob (Pinar) Whaley of Houston, TX, Anne Whaley of Anthem, AZ and Laura Bell of Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 pm at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley. Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 am at the funeral home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
