Martha Miller

November 24, 1940 — December 17, 2014

Martha 'Marty' Miller (née Koskinen) died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 17th in Fairlawn, Ohio at the age of 74. Marty is survived by her husband Robert Miller of Norton, Ohio; her Sons, Mark Osborne of Norton, Ohio, and Matt Osborne, of Aspen, Colorado; her brother Michael of Newton, Mass, and her sister Nora of Ocoee, Florida; Grandchildren Kristin, Grant, Nathan, Tessa, Lyla; Nephews Tim and Joe Greenwood and their children Logan, Mallory, Cydney and Sara; her step children Bob, Vickie, and Mary. She is preceded in death by her parents Alice and Onnie Koskinen. Marty was born on November 24th, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Onnie and Alice Koskinen. She graduated from college in 1964 with a degree in education. She married Robert in 1985, blending their two families. Marty experienced many jobs in her lifetime, including teaching in State College, Pennsylvania, working for her family's business in payroll, and owning her own book store. Her children remember her as a free spirited mother who always encouraged them to pursue their goals. Marty was an accomplished artist and traveled the art show circuit in Florida and Ohio for many years. She was a very generous individual who loved children and who was passionate about children's ministry. She was an active and dedicated member of Mt. Zwingli United Church of Christ and was a volunteer with her dog Molly for the Doggie Brigade at Akron Children's Hospital. A memorial is scheduled for 1pm Saturday December 20 at Mt. Zwingli UCC at 2172 S. Medina Line Rd. Wadsworth, Ohio 44281, with a lunch reception to follow at the church. Pastor Keith Hejnal will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marty's life.
