Mark Zaharopoulos

Mark T. Zaharopoulos passed away Saturday January 20 2007 after a brief illness. Mark was preceded in death by his wife Christine (Teena) in 2002. Mark was a lifelong resident of Akron Ohio where he was In the produce business starting with the family business The Western Fruit and Candy Company then later owning and operating The Mark Z. Produce Company. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the Quartermaster Corps during World War II. After the war he attended the University of Akron. Mark was an active member at Fairlawn Country Club where he had many special friends. Mark is survived by son Mark J. (Barbara) Zaharopoulos of Lombard IL; daughters Patricia A. Labay of Akron OH and Irene C. (Trevor) Hauff of Port Douglas Australia; grandsons Ryan J. Labay and Mark A. (Tracy) Labay of Akron OH Joey P. Labay of Chicago IL Griffin G. Hauff of Port Douglas Australia; great grandchildren Destiny R. and Mark A. Labay of Akron OH.; sister Mary Colombes of Richfield OH and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by very dear friend Mrs. Ceil Suggett of Copley OH. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 27 2007 at 1:00 at the St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church 3204 Ridgewood Rd Fairlawn OH 44333. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Summit County American Red Cross Emergency Services Department 501 West Market Street Akron Ohio 44303.
