Marilyn Dettling

Marilyn Jane Dettling (nee Balaun) 81 passed away January 18 2012 after a short illness. She is survived by loving husband Theodore; daughters Barbara (Peter) Stamatis Diane (Sam) Ross Susan (David) Brown Mary Dettling; sons Brian and Ted Dettling; ten grandchildren Michelle Allison Brian Michelle (Gesualdo) Billy Maddie Bridget Camille Colton Austin; two great grandchildren Joey and Johnathan; brothers John (Marian) Dennis (Vicky) and Richard (Susan) and sister Helen (Larry) March. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents William and Evelyn Balaun; brothers William Jr. and Rev. George Balaun. Marilyn graduated from Our Lady of the Elms High School attended Flora Stone Mather and St. Thomas Nursing School and later graduated from the University of Akron. She worked as a nurse at Rockynol for many years. Along with her husband Marilyn was the co-founder of Elaston Company. She never outgrew her paternal nickname ''Dolly.'' She was fond of art painting sewing and gardening. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron 44304 on Sunday January 22 2012 from 3-7 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday January 23 2012 11 AM at St. Sebastian Catholic Parish 476 Mull Ave. Akron. Donations may be made to Laurel Lake Retirement Center 200 Laurel Lake Dr. Hudson OH 44236 in honor of Marilyn's memory.
