Maria Mayer

Maria Mayer 74 of Norton passed away unexpectedly on Friday August 31 2012. Maria is survived by Philipp her loving and devoted husband of 54 years children Phyllis Mayer Kenneth Mayer Michelle (David) Clapper and Richard (Ann) Mayer; grandchildren Emily and Noah Clapper and Nicholas and Madison Mayer along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother Eva Fekter and sister Anna Pavlovich. Maria was born in Mitrovits Yugoslavia and came to the United States in 1955 with her mother and twin sister. She lived in the Akron area where she volunteered at St. Bernard's Church and was involved with the German Family Society. For over 40 years she worked as a hair dresser. Maria was a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Norton. Maria loved playing cards gardening and watching her hummingbirds. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren her 'goldenis angeles.' Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday September 5 2012 10 AM at Prince of Peace Parish 1263 Shannon Ave. Norton OH 44203. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery will follow. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday September 4 2012 from 5-8 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Prince of Peace Parish.
