Margaret "Peggy" Ruhmanseder, of Akron, Ohio, died, January 16, 2024, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born, January 23, 1930, in Akron, to Joseph and Mary Ruhmanseder. She and her sisters, Nora, Mary Josephine, and Rita, were raised in Firestone Park, in a home filled with laughter, love, and family. Peggy attended St. Paul Elementary School, Sacred Heart Academy, and graduated from St. Vincent High School.
Peggy married and had three children, Sheila, Margaret, and Michael. She became a single mother and returned to work at The Ohio Edison/First Energy, where she spent 37 years. By example, she taught her children the value of work and personal responsibility. After retirement, Peggy volunteered at Akron Children's Hospital and St. Paul's Preschool. She adored the Cleveland Guardians, though she was never the same after the 1997 World Series.
Peggy's Catholic spirituality was foundational and she lived the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity. She was active in her parish prayer line and was devoted to the Rosary. She was gentle, firm when necessary, and loving always. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her greatest work and pride. Her sense of humor was known by all who knew her. She had a wonderful ability to accept and love others for who they are and a great talent for picking the perfect birthday card.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary (Mollie) and Joseph Ruhmanseder, sisters Nora Gild, Josephine Ruhmanseder, and Rita Livers, brothers in law Abe Gild and Hubert Livers, grandson, Galen Klein-Herman, and many beloved family and friends. She is survived by her children, Sheila Marquart (John and Emily Marquart, Colleen and Steven Smith), Maggi Klein( Keely and Ryan Daniels, Evan Klein, Molly McGhee, Joel Klein-Herman, Bryna Bell) and Michael and Holly Klein (Riley, Joseph, Cassie, Caitlin, and Jack), 10 Great grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Peggy also is remembered with love by her many nieces and nephews.
Mass to celebrate Peggy's life will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44303, 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 27, 2024. Calling hours from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at the church, prior to Mass.
