On Monday November 23 2009 Dominican Sister of Peace M. Celine Hete OP died at Regina Health Center Richfield OH. She was born in Barberton OH on November 18 1910 to Joseph and Jennie (Meden) Hete. She entered the Novitiate of the former Our Lady of the Elms Akron OH in 1928 and made her Profession of Vows in 1930. Sr. Celine first ministered as a teacher in Akron OH at Sacred Heart Academy (1928-29); Our Lady of the Elms (1929-30); and St. Bernard (1930-37) before earning a BSE from the Sisters' College of Cleveland OH (St. John College) in 1944. While earning her degree Sr. Celine continued teaching at St. Bernard until 1940 when she moved on to SS. Peter and Paul Doylestown OH (1940-43) and returned to St. Bernard until 1945. Following graduation she taught at St. Paul Akron OH (1945-51); St. Dominic Youngstown OH (1951-53); was principal at St. Felicitas Cleveland OH (1963-69); and continued teaching at St. Gabriel Mentor OH (1969-71); SS. Peter and Paul (1971-73); Basha Elementary Chandler AZ (1973-75 1978-81); and St. Augustine Barberton OH (1975-78). After teaching Sr. Celine ministered in school services at St. Augustine Barberton OH (1981-82); and as a substitute teacher and tutor and in library services at St. Daniel Scottsdale AZ (1982-83) and Elms Elementary Akron OH (1983-95). In 2003 Sr. Celine moved to Regina Health Center where served as a minister of prayer until her death. Sr. Celine was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Matilda Hanic and Jennie Rosenberger; and brother Joseph. She is survived by her brothers Frank and Charles; sisters Frances Stopar and Anne Gradisar; ten nephews 11 nieces and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation for Sr. Celine will be on Friday November 27 2009 from 3 to 6pm with a Wake Service at 4pm at the Akron Motherhouse 1230 W. Market St. Akron OH 44313-7108. The Funeral Mass will be held in the Motherhouse chapel on Saturday November 28 2009 at 9:30am followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
