View Memorial Photo TributeSister M. Teresita Knapp 95 a Sister of St. Dominic of Akron Ohio died on Friday Sept. 19 2008 at Regina Health Center Richfield Ohio. She was in the 67th year of her religious profession. Sister Teresita the former Mary Margaret Knapp was born in Kent Ohio and attended St. Mary High School in Akron. She entered the convent from St. Bernard Parish Akron in 1939. Sister Teresita served in food service at Our Lady of the Elms Preschool (1941-47) St. Dominic Youngstown (1947-48) Our Lady of the Elms School cafeteria (1948-53) and at Our Lady of the Elms Convent (1953-58). Sister Teresita was in charge of the congregation's host room from 1958-96. For years Sister baked the altar breads and then worked as distributor where she took orders for altar breads. She provided hosts for over 50 area churches. Sister Teresita served her sisters as portress and as night nurse in the Elms Infirmary from 1970-84. She had great devotion to St. Therese the Little Flower and tended a rose garden outside her host room window at the motherhouse with great care in order to bring roses to the sisters in the Infirmary. Because of poor health Sister Teresita retired to the Infirmary in 1997. She was transferred to Regina Health Center in March in 2003. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Albert Carl and Paul and sisters Loretta Luecke Alyce Luecke and Rita Pittinger. Calling hours will be on Tuesday September 23 2008 from 3:00-7:00 at Our Lady of the Elms Convent 1230 W. Market St. Akron OH. A Wake Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday Sept. 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the Convent Chapel. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
