Louise was born to Reinhard and Louise Hiss of Barberton. She grew up in Barberton and graduated from Barberton High School in 1930 and from Kent State Normal School. She went on to get her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Oregon in 1962 and was very active in Eastern Star. Her father owned the Hiss Bakery in Barberton and when she was in her teens she worked at City Bakery. She taught pubic school in Oregon for many years. She returned to Ohio in later life to be with family where she was a member of Ghent Christian church.
