Louise Griffiths 92 passed away peacefully on November 1 2011 surrounded by her family and loved ones at the hospice center following a battle with lung cancer. Weezy was a life resident of Akron retired from the Akron Police Department after 31 years of dedicated service working under the direction of five police chiefs and was an officer of the APD credit union for many years. Since her retirement she has volunteered at the Summit County Sherriff's department at the Tuesday Afternoon Jam Sessions at the FOP lodge for Victims Assistance and for many various organizations. She was a member of the FOPA lodge #6 the ABC polka club and the VFW Post #3383. Louise is survived by her sister Gertrude Gilbert son Evan Griffiths (wife Jo) daughter Charlene Gajdatsy (husband Pete) 5 granddaughters 14 great grand children and 7 great-great grandchildren best friend Linda Glover and confidant Don Glocar. Special acknowledgement to the many friends at the Sherriff's Dept and the Polka Club. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday November 5 2011 at 11 AM at St. Bernard-St. Mary Catholic Church 44 University Ave. Akron Ohio 44308. Internment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 PM at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron OH 44304. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The American Lung Association 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW Suite 800. Washington DC 20004 or Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service 3358 Ridgewood Rd Akron 44333.
