Lois Quam, age 88, of Fairlawn Ohio, originally from Toronto South Dakota, passed away on August 5th 2020 at the Greenfield Estates Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Fairlawn Ohio. Lois was born to Arnold and Elvina Ramynke of Toronto South Dakota, growing up on the family farm with her two sisters and graduating from Toronto High school (Class of 1950) . After High School, Lois began working at the Bank of Toronto where she spent most of her long banking career. She worked at First National Bank in Brookings and White until her retirement. She married Les Quam in 1955. The couple lived on the family farm until Les's death in 2010. Lois moved to Brookings South Dakota for a short time and then relocated to Northeast Ohio to be closer to her son Lauren, his wife Brenda, and her Grandchildren. Lois was active in the church whether singing in the choir or playing the organ. (Ironically, Lois sang at countless funerals in the community.) The American Legion was also an important part of Lois's (and Les's) life. Lois was active in the American Legion auxiliary and supporting Les in his deep involvement in State and National Legion organization. Lois is preceded in death by her husband Les, her parents, Arnold and Elvina Ramynke, her two sisters Phyllis Ramynke (Bruflat) and Audrey Ramynke, and sister in law Mary Quam (Hatlestad) Lois is survived by her son Lauren and his wife Brenda, their children Jeremy, his wife Rebecca, Luke and Kianna. A family memorial service will occur in the coming week. Interment in Toronto Cemetery, Toronto, South Dakota at a later date.
