Lindsay S. Stedman, 64, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 18, at his home in Austintown, Ohio, after a three-month battle with cancer. He was born October 9, 1951, in Massillon, Ohio, the son of Allan L. and Thelma T. Stedman, and grew up in the greater Massillon-Canton area, graduating from Jackson High School in 1969. He earned a bachelor's degree from Otterbein College (Westerville, OH) and a master's degree from Grace College (Winona Lake, IN). He loved children and devoted his professional life to Christian education. Most of the first half of his career was spent as a teacher, coach, or principal at Heritage Christian School, in Canton, where his devotion to God and kind spirit touched the lives of hundreds of students. The latter half of his career was largely spent as Associate Director of the River Valley Region office of ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). Although based at ACSI's Canton office, his work took him to Christian schools throughout several states, where he organized conferences, regional athletic competitions, and other events. Throughout his life, Lindsay was a talented athlete who especially loved playing basketball. He carried a lifelong devotion to the Cleveland Indians, the Lone Ranger, the Three Stooges, and decades of family vacations at Lakeside (on Lake Erie). Most of all, though, he loved studying the Bible and enjoying his grandchildren. Lindsay is survived by his wife, Charlotte Wilson Stedman; son, Jeremy Stedman, his wife Aundrea, and their three children; daughter, Jessica Tkachuk, her husband Thomas, and their three children; brother, David Stedman, his wife Jean, and their four adult children; sister, Barbara Stedman; stepson, Kenneth Wilson, his wife Holly, and their three children; stepson David Wilson; and stepson, Ryan Wilson, his wife Teresa, and their three children. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah L. Stedman, in 2005, and by his parents. A service to celebrate Lindsay's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, at Grace Church (Bath Campus), 754 Ghent Rd., Fairlawn. A private graveside service for family will follow at West Brookfield Cemetery in Massillon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to www.exoduscry.com.
