Leonard L. Kevelder (Red) 84 of Akron passed away on February 28 2012 surrounded by loved ones. Red was born on March 16 1927 in Lima OH. He was a graduate of Libby High School (Toledo). Later Red served in the Navy during World War II and after his discharge he attended the University of Toledo. He retired in 1989 from his position as Vice President of L.E. Meyers an electrical contracting firm located in Akron. Red had a great passion for life and enjoyed his retirement years doing the things he loved. He was obsessed with golf loved his time on the lake boating and feeding the muscovy ducks and swans. He and Daun made many memories traveling and spending time with family and friends. Red was preceded in death by his first wife Jeanne. He will be missed by his wife Daun his daughters Shelley Smith (Bryan) Leslie Gearig (Wayne) Kerry Janis (Jeff) Stacy Kara (Ron) his step children Craig Smith Carla Smith (Keith Barton) Tod Smith (Lisa) his 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Red was admired by everyone he met and will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held Friday March 2 2012 at 11 AM at the Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Rd. COPLEY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or send flowers to someone you love.
