Leonard Coon

September 16, 1929 — June 8, 2011

Leonard E. Coon 'Quite The Guy' (September 16 1929 - June 8 2011) He made us laugh and he made us cry. He never met a stranger and he was always quick with a joke. He had a down to earth common sense and comical approach to whatever life presented. The people who truly knew Moose realized that beneath his rough exterior he had a 'heart of gold'. Moose loved life the fun and the people that made it that way. Visitors from all over the world would stop in at his favorite pub just to say hello. There was no language barrier Moose always used his international well-known signing they all found him so amusing. He was proud to serve his country in Korea where he earned many medals the one always in question was the 'GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL'. He was an active member of his Church in Montrose he served his community in Copley and was on the School Board in the Copley Fairlawn School District for a total of 20 years. He also owned and operated the Savoea-Coon Concrete Co. for most of his life. Moose was a very aggressive football player in high school but his dear sweet mother Helen thought he played too rough but in 1945 she was so proud when he won the All Summit County Medal. On December 8 2008 Leonard was congratulated for his fifty years of service to The Scottish Rite Masonry. HE WILL BE MISSED. Moose leaves behind his adoring wife Judy; his son we lovingly call 'Moose Jr.' Steve (Janet) Coon; his very talented daughter Tracy (Rob) Campbell; his loving drive him crazy step-daughters Laura (James) Clark and Jamie (Ryon) Wharton. He loved to tease his grand-specials Mike Sarah Andy Lauryn and Jack he was just a big kid. He has a kind giving brother Ralph (Rosemary) Coon; his always caring sister Thelma (George) Keenan Apple. His mother Helen father Elmer brothers Stan (Betty) and Floyd (Marilyn) are waiting for him in a better place. TO ALL MY FRIENDS FROM COPLEY AND THE HILTON WEST I BID FAREWELL.
