On January 6 2010 Leo P. Longville died peacefully at home surrounded and cared for by his family. Born Dec. 22 1930 he was a lifetime resident of Akron. Leo was a graduate of St. Vincent High School in 1949 where he was a three sport All-Star and of John Carroll University in 1953 where he was a basketball standout for four years. After serving as a First Lt. in the US Army Leo was employed at General Tire Co. Pitts Tire Co. and Tyres International. He was an Ohio football and basketball official at the high school and college level for more than thirty years. He also founded the Backcourt Booster Club and was a member of the Shamrock Society at St. Vincent-St. Mary. As a member of St. Sebastian Parish he volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Good Samaritan Hunger Center. His parents Elizabeth and Paul his siblings Regis Robert and Mary Lou brother-in-law Steve Brown and sister-in-law Mary Theresa preceded him in death. Married to Sally for 54 years Leo was a loving father of Reneé (Jim) Conlon Mariwin (Bill) Linsenmayer Paul (Linda) Leo (Amy) Colleen (Judy) Edward (Cindy). He leaves behind his precious grandchildren: Elizabeth and Nick Conlon; Rosie (Mark) McDowell; Matt Colleen and Kelli Linsenmayer; Kim Eric and Rebecca Longville; Kyle and Jamie Longville; Emily Maddie and Joey Longville. He's also survived by cherished sister Anne Marie (Don) Wood brothers Gerald (Toni) Richard (Penny) and many nieces nephews and friends who hold a very special place in his heart. The family will receive friends and relatives at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd on Sunday January 10 2010 from 2-6 PM. Funeral Mass will be at St. Sebastian Church on Monday at 11 AM.
