Lela E. McLain (nee Howse) 96 of Akron died December 3 2005 at Country Lawn Nursing Center in Navarre OH. Lela was born on April 24 1909 in Culman AL. She was a homemaker and avid gardener. During WWII her contribution to the war effort was with Goodyear. Being petite she was one of the few that could fit in the confined spaces of wing tips and tail sections where she worked as a 'rivet bucker.' Lela was preceded in death by her husband husband of 56 years James M. McLain in 1999 parents Franklin and Martha Howse daughter Lela E. Blackerby in 2004. She is survived by her son James T. (Sandra Jean) McLain of Brewster OH grandchildren Marcy McLain Wendy Scharon Nathan Blackerby Chelsea White and several great-grandchildren sister Estel Johnson of Akron Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday December 7 2005 12:00 PM at Hummel Funeral Home Copley 3475 Copley Road. Entombment in the Rose Hill Burial Park with Rev. Becki A. Bowan-Verbridge officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
