Larry Hammer passed into the arms of God February 11 2011 surrounded by his loving family and friends both new and old. A loving husband father grandfather and friend. Larry was born in Wadsworth to Frederick and Mildred Hammer on October 25 1939. He was the youngest of 7 siblings and endured all the pranks of his elder brothers and sisters. Larry was preceded in death by his mother and father brother Arthur and his sister-in-law Mary Shirley sister Jean Robbins and brother-in-law Lacy and his eldest son Brian. He is survived by his wife Jennifer sons Adam (Meg) and Colin (Casye) brother Richard (Pat) Tom (Agnes) Ralph (Beverly) Jim (Claire) sister Donna Lee (Jim) Pasho. He leaves behind sister-in-law Lindsey Spierling grandsons Morgen and Bryce granddaughters Ella and Stella as well as numerous nieces and nephews great nieces and nephews great-great nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Larry worked for the F.B.I. in Washington D.C. after graduating high school in 1957. He attended Kent State and graduated in 1966 and he then joined the B.F. Goodrich family and worked as an accountant until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of St Francis De Sales Church Choir and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 10 years. Larry touched many people in his life and became close friends with his camping family in Loudonville's River Run Campground. All who knew Larry loved him and remained close until his passing. He will especially be missed by his loving companion Bowser. The family would like to thank all who have supported us during this trying time. Our greatest appreciation goes to the staff at Ridgewood Healthcare Center and Odyssey Hospice for their compassion and consideration to Larry. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday February 17 2011 at 10 AM at St. Francis De Sales Church 4019 Manchester Rd Akron 44319. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd. Copley 44321 on Wednesday from 5-8PM. Cremation has taken place.
