Kevin McCollum

Kevin J. McCollum, age 26, of Akron, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2018. Born on July 24, 1991 in Columbus, Ohio to Steven and Christine McCollum. A bright light on this earth has flown into heaven to be with God and sit with the stars. Kevin was a shining spirit. Kevin was an Eagle Scout of troop 622, he graduated from Bishop Hartley High School in Columbus, Ohio and then headed to Akron to attend Akron University to pursue an interior design degree. He was currently working at Twisted Burgers and Sushi and also working at Jilly's Music Room. Kevin would invite family to Jilly's because he loved the music and he loved to dance. He put a smile on the face of everyone he met. He loved to sing and had music in his head all of the time. He would be the first to sing out loud and make sure you joined in. He was very energetic and loved to dance and move. We will always remember him this way. Next time you feel the urge to dance we hope you think of him and dance. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Walter and Marcia Chadwick, Hilda Russell, George Ladd; Uncle, James Chadwick; Cousin, Alycia Kern; and second cousin, Stella Butts. He is survived by his parents, Steven and Christine McCollum; sister, Victoria McCollum; Aunts and Uncles, Cindy Chadwick, Greg and Kathy Jones, Bill and Pam Butts, Rick and Dianna Kern; and many cousins, friends and extended family members. Family will receive friends on Saturday May 12, 2018 from 12pm to 4pm at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 East Exchange Street, Akron, Ohio 44304. Mass will be held on May 14, 2018 at 10am at Church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 5225 Refugee Rd, Columbus, OH 43232. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children (Burn Unit). Arrangements entrusted to the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel.
