Kathleen Ostroski

March 31, 1922 — August 3, 2017

Kathleen Considine Ostroski, 95 years young, and our own special Irish Angel, went to heaven August 3, 2017. Kathleen was born to Edward and Catherine Considine on March 31, 1922. She grew up in South Akron, attended St. Mary Grade School and High School, graduating in the Class of 1940. She married Edmund Ostroski in 1943, and the couple raised their family of eleven children on North Hill. Kathleen and Ed were married for 61 years, till his death in 2005. After high school, Kathleen worked for Firestone, and as her children grew, began working for the Akron Public Schools lunch program. She delighted in serving the children on a daily basis. However, her real vocation was that of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and community activist/leader. She had a sparkling wit, loved to joke, dance, cook (and could pull a meal out of nowhere) and, most importantly, support family, church and school activities. Kathleen provided a special kind of quiet, humble leadership - - a perfect servant leader. She served as President of the St. Martha Ladies Guild, was founder and President of the Our Lady of Fatima Study Club, President of the Hoban Mothers' Club, and involved in numerous other organizations and activities. She did the little jobs as well, such as making curtains for a school cafeteria, counting church collection money, being Girl Scout Cookie mother and much more. Everything was done with a great sense of care, purpose and hospitality for others. In addition to her own children, Kathleen was a mother figure for many others. With a strong sense of morals and purpose, she added a special ingredient to all that she did. In essence, she lived her Catholic faith on a daily basis and raised up those around her to be better people. Since her youth, Kathleen wanted her life to be spiced with adventure and planned to see the world. She did all that. She had the ride of her life on a hot air balloon, visited numerous states, and traveled to several countries, including Ireland and Italy. If she had a grandchild graduating from college or her family needed her, no matter where, she hopped on a plane and was there. For a woman who never drove, she really got around. She was preceded in death by her husband Edmund, beautiful granddaughter Chelsie Huber, and her siblings Mary, Jeannette, James, Edward, Howard, Robert, William and Richard. She is survived by siblings Paul Considine and Teresa Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory children Mary Kay Bodnar (Joe), Patricia Ostroski, Maureen Nasrallah (Anthony), Dennis Ostroski, John Ostroski, Mark Ostroski (Jackie), Loretta Ostroski, Tim Ostroski (Mary Alice), Martha Huber (Mike), Tina Ostroski and Chip Ostroski,. She also leaves grandchildren Heather Schober (John), Joe Bodnar (Nicole), Megan Ridgeway (Curtis), Joshua Nasrallah (Stephanie), Erin Nasrallah, Kindelan Huber (Sam), Jacob Huber, Jared Barnett (Victoria), Carmen and Jacqueline Ostroski. Great-grandchildren Natalie, Nicholas, Lillian, Gabriel, Augustus, Vivian, and Calagero. The family would like to thank Dr. Atul Goswami for his years of dedicated care for our mother. Special thanks to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service for their inspiring care and especially Suzanne and Tammy. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation in honor of Kathleen to the Blessed Trinity Parish Food Pantry 300 East Talmadge Ave. Akron, Ohio 44310 or Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio 44333 or a charity of your choice.
