Kathleen Dilley (Bates) 70 passed away peacefully on Thursday August 11 2011 after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. Kitty was born April 24 1941 in Meadville PA where she graduated from St. Agatha High School and went on to become an alumnus of Mercyhurst College in Erie PA. She later contributed her amazing leadership abilities as the Banquet Director of the Akron City Club as Executive Director of the YWCA and as Marketing Director for the Medina County Credit Union. Kitty dedicated countless hours volunteering in the Medina and Akron communities. The recipients of her generosity include: The Junior League of Akron Leadership Medina The Red Cross of Medina County as a board member and the Medina County Credit Union as a supervisory committee member. A high point for Kitty was her work as a flight attendant with Braniff Airlines. She was involved with charter flights transporting troops to and from Viet Nam. Kitty had many hobbies but cruising and growing and showing prize winning roses were her favorites. Kitty is survived by her husband of 39 years Bill; sisters Jeanne (Rudy) Hinderegger Roseanne (Herbert) Kister; sister-in-law Barbara Bates; aunt Nancy Meehan; cousins Mary Anne (Theodore) Kowalski Charles (Judy) Lightner Patricia (Raymond) Travasari and Mary Lee Owens and her son Charlie; nieces and nephews Captain Daniel Bates U.S.N. Susan Bates Timothy (Denise) Bates Michael (Kristine) Bates Matthew (Kim) Hinderegger Paul (Barbara) Hinderegger Sally (Mike) Radolovic Beth (Scott) VanHouten Caroline (Fernan) Peralta Philip Kister Thomas (Katie) Kister Katherine (Brian) Martucci Elizabeth (Barry) Tavolier and John (Wendy) Thorpe. Kitty was a loving and devoted aunt to many great-nieces and nephews and was blessed with the devotion of countless friends. She is preceded in death by her father Arthur Bates mother Mary Jane Bates brother Thomas Bates and sister-in-law Barbara Dilley Thorpe.
