Karen R. King

Karen Renee King, aged 58, passed away on August 11, 2024, in Copley, Ohio. Born on February 8, 1966, in Akron, Ohio. She was known for her thoughtful nature, especially toward her friends and family, and her ability to bring warmth and joy to those around her. Karen was a joy to be around and loved dearly by all who knew her.

Karen grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and graduated from Weaver School in 1988. She attended for over 20 years the Weaver Workshop Custom Stitches program and was presently attending the Blick Center Day Program. She participated as a Special Olympic cheerleader and competed in Special Olympic track & field, beachball volleyball, and bowling, receiving many medals & ribbons.

Karen's passion for Disney World was well-known, as she cherished many family trips there, especially enjoying rides like Dumbo and Aladdin and eating turkey legs! She also enjoyed attending many country music concerts with her sister, Terri, & many trips to Columbus, Ohio where they enjoyed shopping, dining, and visiting the zoo.

An avid sports fan, Karen enjoyed regularly attending Indians games and watching the Guardians, Cavs, Browns, and THE Ohio State Buckeyes on TV. Her love for movies, country music, dining out, shopping, and watching classic television on MeTV and AntennaTV brought joy not only to her but also to those around her.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Judy King. She is survived by her father, Gerry King; sister, Teresa King; uncle, Bob Snively; her aunts, Mary (Dave) Stacy; and Janet Bibee; and numerous cousins. Karen's memory will be cherished and kept alive by the many lives she touched.

A gathering to celebrate Karen's life will be held at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley, OH 44321, on Friday, August 23, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. In honor of Karen's favorite color, attendees are encouraged to wear something purple. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Blick Center, 640 West Market Street, Akron, OH 44303.
