View Memorial Photo Tribute'' Karen Ann Beck 63 devoted wife mother and grandmother passed away May 1 2008 at home after an extended illness. She was born June 24 1944 in Philadelphia to Dr. Louis C. and Florence (Knorr) Zeller both deceased. She was raised in Girard OH. She graduated from Lake Erie College in 1966 and also obtained an education degree from Youngstown State University. Karen is survived by her husband of 40 years Michael R. Beck Jr.; two sons Michael R. Beck III and Sean P. Beck of Akron; daughter Kristin (Scott) Clark and two beloved grandchildren Mia Gabrielle Clark and Ryan Michael Clark of Bath. She is also survived by her brother Peter T. (Maureen) Zeller of Girard sister-in-law Priscilla Beck of Girard and uncle Max Bates of Ft. Myers FL. She also leaves several nieces and nephews: Christine (James) Papa Timothy (Lindsay) Zeller Laura Kutsko Gregory (Stephanie) Kutsko and grandniece Hadley Kutsko. She will be sadly missed by cousins Linda Bates (Robert) Webber and Dennis Bates and godchildren Brayden and Branden Webber. Karen was loved by all who knew her and will be fondly remembered for her gentle spirit generosity and philanthropy. Throughout the years she was active as a volunteer in Sanctuary Society of St. Sebastian's a school volunteer at St. Sebastian's Our Lady of the Elms and Walsh Jesuit High School. She was a member of Walsh Jesuit Mother's Club and served as POW WOW co-chair in 1996. She was also a past President of the Akron Chapter of Christ Child Society a member of Lake Erie College Alumni and enjoyed being a '9 Holer' at Portage Country Club. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM on Tuesday May 6 2008 at St. Sebastian Church 476 Mull Ave Akron. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron 44304 on Monday May 5 2008 from 4-8 PM. The family requests that memorials be made in Karen's name to the Christ Child Society of Akron PO Box 5855 Akron OH 44372. The family also expresses immense gratitude to her physicians and chemotherapy nurses at the Cleveland Clinic and to the Hospice of Western Reserve.
