Julie Gabelman

July 22, 1957 — March 8, 2019

Julie L. Gabelman, 61, passed away March 8, 2019, after a two and a half year battle with cancer. Born in Akron, her family moved to Green in 1966, she graduated from Green High School and received an Associate Degree from the University of Akron. She retired in December from Kastner Westman and Wilkins, LLC where she was a legal assistant. Family was important to her; she didn't need a reason to be with family, but birthdays and holidays with her family were special to her. Julie had a lifetime love of photography, recording her family's lives in pictures. She liked road trips, Christmas, locally sourced food, candles, crafts and keeping up with friends and relatives on social media. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Barbara Bathori. She will be deeply missed by her husband Brian, her sons Jacob (girlfriend Gabby Carter) and Bill, sister Ann Denise (Frank) Vargo , brother Bill (Krista) Bathori, nephews Joe Vargo and Nick Bathori, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dan (Edna) Gabelman, David (Sandy) Gabelman, Ken (Debbie ) Gabelman, Karen (Chris) Webb, Meg Gabelman, Chip Gabelman, Beth (Kevin) Jarrell, Terri (Russ) Hessler and Kathy (Dan) Dowling, many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Summit Oncology Associates, particularly Dr. Trochelman and Dr. Mahesh and Akron City Hospital nursing staff on T3 and 3 West. Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St. Akron, Ohio 44304. Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday at the funeral home, followed by interment at East Liberty Cemetery. Donations can be made to Cuyahoga Valley Countryside, 4965 Quick Rd., Peninsula, Ohio 44264.
