Joyce Bailey

Joyce M. Bailey 66 passed away on March 1 2011 after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by loving husband Robert sons Kenneth (Robin) Bailey of Lodi and John Bailey of Seville twin sister Judith (Charles) Boughton of Copley sisters Sandra (Richard) Stahl of Akron Brenda Bidinger of Brunswick and brother Bruce Hunt of Florida seven grandchildren two great-grandchildren as well as numerous other family and friends. Joyce was born in 1944 four minutes after her identical twin sister Judy. She and her siblings were the children of Clyde and Gloria Hunt who predeceased Joyce. Joyce grew up in Norton and graduated from Norton High School in 1962. Shortly after graduation she married her high school sweetheart Robert ''Bob'' Bailey. In 1965 Bob and Joyce had their first child Kenny. Son John followed in 1969. In 1971 the family moved to Stafford Virgina where Joyce attended and graduated from the Prince William County School of Practical Nursing. In 1978 Joyce and her family returned to Ohio. Joyce began working at Akron Children's Hospital as a licensed practical nurse. She worked there for 27 years caring primarily for infants. During her years at Children's Hospital Joyce worked with many wonderful colleagues who became lifelong friends. Besides two children Joyce was blessed with seven grandchildren: Christopher (Stacy) Bailey of Kenmore Jesse Bailey of Cuyahoga Falls Nathan Bailey of Seville Ashly Bailey of Akron Justin and Jessica Bailey of Barberton and Alexis Bailey of Bowling Green as well as two great grandchildren Christopher and Sherilyn Bailey of Kenmore. Joyce retired from the nursing profession in 2006. She has since spent her time visiting traveling and shopping with family and friends. She particularly loved her time spent caring for one of her youngest friends Kylie. Joyce was fortunate to have the constant and loving support of many wonderful friends and family members during her illness. She was grateful for their love and presence. Calling hours will be from 2 - 6 PM on Sunday March 6th 2011 at Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Road Copley. Interment in Rose Hill Burial Park with Reverend Becki Bowan-Verbridge officiating. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 7th at 11:00 at Copley United Methodist Church 1518 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road Copley.
