Josephine Barbara Matuska 87 passed away Thursday June 13 2013. The Kowalski family reunion will be held in Heaven this year. She was born in Martins Ferry OH. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church St. Anne's Club Altar and Rosary Society Ladies Aux of the Polish American Club St. Monica's Study Club. Josephine was preceded in death by parents George and Valeria Kowalski; husband of 59 years John; son Stephen (our little Angel); she was the last of nine children Mike (Luti) Helen (Lou) Stella (Steve) Alex Violet (Buster) George Wanda (Max) Carolyn (Fred). She is survived by daughter Patricia (Mark) Hearns; sons David (Belinda) F. John Kevin (Christy) grandchildren Brandy Cheryl Aaron Joey Elijah Matthew DJ; great-grandchildren Gina Crystal Bobby Devin Madison Makenzie Mason Jackson Marley. The family wishes to thank the staff of Greenview Inn Pebble Creek and Elder Acute Care at Akron City Hospital for their loving care of Josephine. The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-7 pm at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Visitation of Mary Catholic Church 87 Broad St. Akron. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Visitation of Mary Soup Kitchen.
