Joseph Varvaro, 90, passed away Friday August 28, 2015 peacefully with his family by his side. Joseph grew up in the North Hill area. He was a veteran of the Army serving in WWII. After the war, Joseph graduated from the University of Akron. He was a electrical consulting engineer. Joseph was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church where he served as an usher and server. He enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Joseph was part of the burial detail team with the Copley VFW. He will be greatly missed but leaves behind a legacy of love to his family, church and country. He was preceded in death by first wife Judy; daughter Linda; step-daughter Joan; brother John; sister Ann. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Julia; son Gary (Beth); daughter Lisa (Craig) Carden; brother Charles (Bette); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 10:00 am at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd., Copley. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guardian Angels Catholic Church, or Alzheimers Association.
