Joseph John Davis was born November 1st, 1959 in Akron, Ohio and passed away, unexpectedly, December 17th, 2021.
Joe has been a law enforcement officer for over three decades, serving as lieutenant in charge of patrol operations and training at the Richfield Police Department. He retired from Richfield in 2018 to work for the Akron Federal Court and the Peninsula Police Department. He attended the University of Akron, the University of Virginia and is a 2006 graduate of the FBI National Academy. Joe has been a devoted student of Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujutsu since 2003 and after many years of training earned the rank of Shihan.
Joe was a connoisseur of good food, cigars and bourbon. He loved to travel, and was passionate about everything he did. He lived and loved his family and friends fiercely.
He left behind a love that can never be replaced, and a hole in our hearts that nothing and no one can ever fill. We are grateful for the friends and family that will carry us through.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents (Patricia Davis and Joe "Jack" Davis). He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Christina; his children, Shannon (Matt) Myer, Gavin, and McKenna Davis; his grandchildren, Bexley, Macklyn, and Alessia Myer; his sister, Ellen (Bruce) Grayson; his nieces, Katlyn and Allie Grayson; his cousin, Bonnie Morgan; In-laws, Teddy, Carol and Rick; Amber and Harrison Tomko; Craig, Ben, Dave, Keith and Darrell; his friends at the Richfield and Peninsula Police Department, the Akron Federal Court; and his worldwide Jujitsu family.
