VIEW LIFE TRIBUTEJoseph P. Davis passed away at the age of 87 on January 19 2009 after a brief illness. Joe was born on February 15 1921 in Cleveland Ohio. He graduated from Central High School in 1939. After serving in the Army Medical Corps during WW II Joe attended the University of Iowa on the GI Bill graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1949. He retired from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1987 after more than 35 years of service in the Chemical Division. He was a self-taught expert in the area of latex chemistry and was a member of the American Chemical Society for over fifty years. Joe was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church for nearly 45 years. Joe was preceded in death by his parents William and Lilly and by his beloved wife Mary Louise. Joe was a loving and generous father who will be missed by his children Gregory (Alix) of California Anita of Cuyahoga Falls Christopher (Barbara) of Stow Timothy (Cecelia) of Portage Lakes and Mary (Kevin) of Canton. He also leaves four grandchildren: Lauren Ryan Justin and Cameron. In addition to his children and grandchildren Joe is survived by his brother Thomas of Florida sister-in-law and husband Bernardine and Edgar Ruof of N. Canton sister-in-law Johanna Ross of California many nieces and nephews and special friends the Pica family the Musci family Brenda Dillbeck Penny Schwilling and Patty Triplett. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM Saturday January 24 2009 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 476 Mull Ave Akron. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St Akron on Friday evening from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Archbishop Hoban High School Joseph P. Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund (1 Holy Cross Blvd; Akron OH 44306).
