John Whitinger

The morning of June 17 2011 our Lord called him home after a long struggle. Born in Akron on February 5 1940 he served his country in USAF. John was a member of Zion Lutheran Church the Masonic Order & Sons of Herman. John 'golfed to live' and this passion rewarded him with 6 holes in 1 during his lifetime. He was a devoted husband to Nancy (Beam) his wife of almost 53 years; loving father to LaQuita (Ed) Opperman and Lori (Brent) Nash; proud grandpa to Adam and Jeremy Opperman and Riley Nash who will miss him greatly. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday June 23 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church 139 S. High St Akron. John's family & friends will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in John's memory to Zion Lutheran Church or Hospice of VNS 3558 Ridgewood Rd Akron OH 44333.
