John Vargovic

John J. Vargovic 88 of Barberton died March 20 2005 at Mercy Medical Center Canton OH. John was born in Akron on March 14 1917. He graduated from Akron East High School and the University of Akron. John served as a U.S. Merchant Marine in the Atlantic South Atlantic Pacific Caribbean and Mediterranean areas as a communication officer/ 'Sparky.' He retired from Goodyear Aircraft as a packaging designer. He was a lifelong amateur radio enthusiast. He was holder of early ham license W8OHO and member of the American Radio Relay League. He was an avid landscape painter and writer. John is preceded in death by his wife Arlene Faix parents Emil and Theresa and brother Frank Vargovic. He is survived by children John Michael Vargovic of Alliance OH Carol Ann Craib of Ontario CA sister Mary Wernow of Sarasota FL. A memorial prayer service will be held Wednesday March 23 2005 at 11:00 am at the Mercy Medical Center Chapel 1320 Mercy Dr. N.W. Canton OH. Memorial Donations may be made to the MDS Foundation P.O.
