John Joseph Seikel aged 63 of Bath Township died on March 10 2011. The cause of death was cancer. John was born on March 19 1947 in Akron Ohio to Dr. George R. and Lucile Riley Seikel. His father who had served in Europe during World War II died of cancer when John was six months old. John attended St. Sebastian Elementary School and graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1965. He attended the University of Detroit on a Knights of Columbus scholarship and was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He graduated with a B.A. in accounting in 1970. He was employed initially by J. K. Lasser which later through various mergers became Deloitte Touche. John became one of the few to pass the CPA exam on his first attempt. In 1982 John founded his own CPA firm which is now Seikel & Associates CPAs Inc. His practice specialized in real estate partnerships and he had been instrumental in making public housing available for many. His favorite pastime when he was not working (which was seldom) was sports. When younger he was a softball pitcher playing in several leagues at a time. He kept statistics on all his favorite Cleveland teams and he was loyal to the Browns Cavs and Indians despite the often difficult circumstances for continued allegiance. John loved people - especially talking to people. He married his wife Lois on December 4 1982. They have two children John J. Jr. and Katherine M. He was dedicated to his wife and children and they did everything as a family. John was a member of St Hilary parish a past member of the parish council and gave his time to many organizations. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He was a past treasurer and board member of the International Institute of Akron past member of the St. Hilary parish council past treasurer of the West Akron Board of Trade. John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother George R. He is survived by his sister Mary Jo Mellody and numerous nieces nephews and other family members. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday March 16 at St. Hilary Catholic Church 2750 W. Market St. Fairlawn - interment in Holy Cross cemetery.
